Setting Up a Screen
This guide walks you through the complete process of adding a new screen in MenuPlat and connecting your display device (TV, monitor, or tablet) to it.

What You Need
Section titled “What You Need”- A display device (TV, monitor, tablet, PC) with Google Chrome installed
- The device connected to the internet
- Access to your MenuPlat dashboard
Step 1: Create the Screen in the Dashboard
Section titled “Step 1: Create the Screen in the Dashboard”- In the left sidebar, click “Screens”
- Click “Add Screen” (or “New Screen”)
- Fill in the screen details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|

After saving, the screen appears in your Screens list with a status of “Unpaired” — it exists in the system but isn’t connected to a device yet.
Step 2: Open the Display URL on Your Device
Section titled “Step 2: Open the Display URL on Your Device”- On your display device (TV/monitor), open Google Chrome
- Navigate to the display URL shown in your screen’s settings in the dashboard
The URL typically looks like:
https://display.menuplat.com/[your-screen-id]You can find this URL by clicking on the screen in the dashboard.
Step 3: Get the Pairing Code
Section titled “Step 3: Get the Pairing Code”When Chrome opens the display URL for the first time (or when the screen is unpaired), it shows a pairing code — a short alphanumeric code displayed prominently on screen.
The pairing code looks something like: A3B7X2
Step 4: Enter the Pairing Code in the Dashboard
Section titled “Step 4: Enter the Pairing Code in the Dashboard”- Back in your MenuPlat dashboard, open the screen you just created
- Look for the “Pair Device” or “Enter Pairing Code” field
- Type the code shown on your display device
- Click “Pair” or “Connect”
The screen on your display device will immediately update to show it’s connected. The status in your dashboard changes to “Online”.
Step 5: Assign a Playlist
Section titled “Step 5: Assign a Playlist”Your screen is now connected, but it won’t show any content until you assign a playlist:
- In the screen settings, find the “Playlist” field
- Select a playlist from the dropdown (you can create one in Dashboard → Playlists)
- Click “Save”
The display device will begin playing your playlist immediately.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
Section titled “Troubleshooting Connection Issues”Screen shows pairing code but dashboard says it’s offline:
- Make sure both your dashboard device and the display device have internet access
- Try refreshing the display URL on the display device to get a fresh pairing code
- Ensure there are no firewall rules blocking the display device’s outbound connection
Pairing code expired:
- Pairing codes refresh every few minutes. Check the display device for the current code.
Screen connected but showing blank:
- Check that a playlist is assigned to the screen
- Make sure the assigned playlist has at least one content item
