Building a Playlist

A playlist is an ordered sequence of content items that plays on your digital screens. This guide walks you through creating a playlist and assigning it to your screens.

Before building a playlist, make sure you have:

  • At least one content item created (Dashboard → Content), OR products added so you can use menu board templates
  • At least one store and screen set up
  1. In the left sidebar, click “Playlists”
  2. Click “New Playlist” or “Create Playlist”
  3. Give your playlist a descriptive name (e.g., “Main Menu”, “Lunch Special”, “Drinks & Desserts”)
  4. Select which store this playlist is for
  5. Click “Create” to save the playlist

With your playlist open, you’ll see the playlist editor:

  1. Click “Add Item” or the ”+” button
  2. A panel will open showing your available content items
  3. Click on a content item to add it to the playlist

Repeat to add as many items as you need. There’s no hard limit, but 5–8 items is recommended for a good balance.

For each item in your playlist, set how long it should stay on screen:

  1. Click on an item in the playlist
  2. Find the “Duration” field
  3. Enter the number of seconds this item should display

Recommended durations:

  • Simple menu boards: 10–15 seconds
  • Featured product slides: 8–12 seconds
  • Promotional videos: Use the video length (automatically detected)
  • Complex layouts with lots to read: 15–20 seconds

To change the order of items in the playlist:

  • Drag and drop items using the handle icon on the left side of each item
  • The playlist plays from top to bottom, then loops back to the start

Once your playlist is ready:

Option A — Assign from the Playlist:

  1. In the playlist settings, find “Assigned Screens” or “Assign to Store”
  2. Select the store or specific screens to assign this playlist to
  3. Click “Save”

Option B — Assign from the Screen:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Screens
  2. Click on the screen you want to assign a playlist to
  3. In the screen settings, find the “Playlist” dropdown
  4. Select your playlist
  5. Click “Save”

The screen will begin playing the playlist immediately after saving.

If you want different playlists at different times of day (breakfast, lunch, dinner menus):

  1. Open the playlist you want to schedule
  2. Click “Add Schedule” or “Schedule”
  3. Set the days and time range when this playlist should play
  4. Save the schedule

When a schedule is active, the playlist will automatically switch at the configured times. This requires a Professional or Enterprise plan.

Changes to a playlist take effect on your screens within a few minutes. You don’t need to reconnect or restart anything — screens automatically pick up playlist changes.
