Products & Categories

Products are your menu items — everything you sell or serve. Categories are how you organize those products (Starters, Mains, Drinks, Desserts, etc.). Together, they form the complete catalogue that powers both your digital screens and QR menu.

Products management page

A product in MenuPlat represents a single menu item. Each product can have:

FieldDescription
NameThe product name (supports multiple languages)
DescriptionA description of the item, including ingredients or allergens
PriceThe base price of the item
ImagesOne or more photos of the dish
CategoryWhich category the product belongs to
StatusActive (visible) or inactive (hidden)
VariantsDifferent options for the product (see below)

Product names and descriptions support multiple languages. When you add a product, you can enter the name and description in both English and Turkish (or any other languages you’ve configured). Customers viewing the QR menu can then switch between languages to read the menu in their preferred language.

Many menu items come in different options. MenuPlat supports product variants to handle this:

  • Size variants — Small, Medium, Large
  • Preparation variants — Hot, Iced
  • Option variants — With cheese, Without cheese

Each variant can have its own price. For example:

  • Americano (Small) — $3.00
  • Americano (Medium) — $3.50
  • Americano (Large) — $4.00

If you manage multiple store locations, you can set different prices per location using price tiers. This allows a city-centre branch to charge more than a suburban branch for the same item, all managed from the same product entry.

See Managing Prices and Dynamic Pricing for details.

Categories organize your products into logical groups. Typical categories for a restaurant might be:

  • Starters / Appetizers
  • Soups & Salads
  • Main Courses
  • Burgers & Sandwiches
  • Pizzas
  • Sides
  • Drinks
  • Desserts

Categories appear as navigation tabs in the QR menu, making it easy for customers to find what they’re looking for.

Sort OrderThe order in which categories appear in the menu

StatusActive or inactive

Products can be set as active (visible to customers) or inactive (hidden). This is useful for:

  • Seasonal items that are only available at certain times
  • Products that are temporarily out of stock
  • New items you’re preparing but not ready to publish yet
