Playlists
A playlist in MenuPlat is an ordered sequence of content items that plays on your digital screens. Each item in the playlist displays for a set amount of time before automatically moving on to the next item — just like a slideshow.

What Is a Playlist?
Section titled “What Is a Playlist?”A playlist is the “program” that your screens run. It defines:
- Which content items to show — The individual menu layouts, images, or videos
- In what order — The sequence they play in
- For how long each — The duration each content item stays on screen (in seconds)
How Playlists Work
Section titled “How Playlists Work”- You create a playlist and give it a name
- You add content items to the playlist and set a duration for each one
- You assign the playlist to a store or individual screen
- The screen continuously loops through the playlist, playing each item for its set duration
When the playlist reaches the last item, it loops back to the beginning and starts again. This means your screens always have something to show.
Assigning Playlists
Section titled “Assigning Playlists”A playlist can be assigned at two levels:
- Store level — All screens in that store play the same playlist by default
- Screen level — A specific screen can have a different playlist assigned, overriding the store default
This lets you have most screens show the same content while one specific screen (like a drinks menu board) shows something different.
Scheduling
Section titled “Scheduling”With scheduling, you can configure a playlist to only play during certain time windows. For example:
- Show a breakfast menu playlist from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
- Switch to the lunch menu playlist from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Show the dinner menu playlist from 3:00 PM onwards
Scheduling is available on Professional and Enterprise plans.
Example Playlist Structure
Section titled “Example Playlist Structure”| Order | Content Item | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Main Menu Board | 15 seconds |
| 2 | Today’s Specials | 10 seconds |
| 3 | Drinks Menu | 10 seconds |
| 4 | Desserts | 8 seconds |
| 5 | Promotional Video | 20 seconds |
Tips for Great Playlists
Section titled “Tips for Great Playlists”- Keep durations appropriate — Most menu content reads well at 10–20 seconds per item
- Don’t make playlists too long — 5–8 items is ideal; too many items means customers wait longer to see the full menu
- Use the featured item layout for specials or promotions you want to highlight
- Separate drinks and food onto different slides for clarity
